When I first started my interior design business I only had a few followers on Instagram.
And the people who did follow me where just friends and family.
Compared to all the other designers...
I was a nobody.
Which lead be to believing that there was no point in posting on instagram if no one was even going to see it, right?
It all seemed like a big waste of time.
But as I started to network, make connections and get my name out there, people kept asking me:
"What's your Instagram user name?"
"Can I follow you?"
"Can I checkout your work on Instagram?"
At first I didn't get it.
Why did it matter?
I had a website and business cards...so why would they want to checkout my Instagram?
I was so embarrassed telling people I didn't have an account that I finally gave in and started posting content on design.
Looking back now - it was a game changer!
Homeowners don't just pay for the design they pay for the person doing the design.
That's why some of the biggest names out there that land massive luxury projects are the ones who have built a personal brand.
Even though I don't have a massive following or tons of engagement, I still receive inquieries from people who checked out my Instagram and liked what they saw.
Now you can see why posting content on Instagram can give you instant creditability and professionalism even if you don't have a existing audience of followers.
